Description
Weeee, a commissioned work!
I did this for my friend ~Enlothien, who compiled the logs from an MUD RPG campaign into a book for the player of Sennah, the tall blond guy on the right.
Personally I only know bits and pieces from the campaign - I am not involved myself, but various of my friends are, so occasionally I'll hear about another interesting/exciting/amusing/frustrating episode. But I don't know the whole story.
But Enlo provided me with this particular scene and other random bits of information I pestered her for (including things like "In which hand does Sennah wield his sword? Is it a problem that he's left-handed as I depicted him?", or "What would the design of the tower be like? Like, who built it?", etc). Basically the Elven paladin Sennah and the half-Elven healer Asyn finally manage to grasp a moment of quiet between the turmoils of their quest. Asyn notices that Sennah (prototypical heroic male ) needs looking after, and Sennah finds that he... rather likes Asyn.
I quite like the contrast between those two - tall and bright vs. small and dark, righteous force vs. gentle wisdom. (It's a weeee bit on the kitschy side, but hey, we can't all do postmodern deconstructions of romance. )
I'm not happy with the way the sky turned out - the paper dried too fast so the surface got all stripey. Gnah.
Enlo has documented the process of making the book here [link] - but the text is in German, so those of you who can't read it will have to make do with the nice pictures.

The colors in here are so rick and deep, I love it. Or is it just the satuartion on the computer. It looks lovely in the book as well. Several things that stick out to me particularly. Firstly, the gorgeous embroidery on the hem of his tunic (hey, I'm a sucker for celtic knots, what can I say?) His hair styling is also amazing, I like how creative you got with all the braids crisscrossing and all that. And that blue shade of Asyn's robes is...ah, how shall I say it, probably one of my FAVORITE blues. I love it. It's perfect and rich and deep, and I just love the color blue.
Bleh. Uncooperative watercolors. I feel your pain. My skies always get stripey, I have to do the whole thing in a quick, wide wash. If I go back for more paint it gets "stipey' as you said.
