First Age Fashion: Orcs

Actually I'd intended to finally finish my Losgar painting, but I suppose that'll need yet another few dozen drafts or so. Instead, I drew orcs.
And I thought a lot about orcs.
And got some nasty and annoying plotbunnies.
But you don't want to know about that.

I'm vaguely proud of finally drawing 'monsters' that don't look totally ridiculous! Although somehow they look pitiable rather than disgusting. But I figure if the tortured Elves theory is right, that's fair enough.
The two orcs in armour are very fashionable elite orcs, by the way; that orange thingy they're wearing on their left shoulder is a genuine lock of Elf hair, which is a kind of medal of honour worn proudly by all those who helped capture and/or torture Maedhros. (I told you I got plot bunnies.) Of course, it also marks them as the first to be slaughtered by vengeful Noldor. The downside of being fashionable...

Oh, and those three spots on their helmet signify the Silmarils, then in Morgoth's keeping, of course. I bet he'd use them for this banner just as much as the Elfies do, if only to piss them off. Note how they're cleverly arranged precisely the other way 'round than they are on the Elvish device...
