Learning more about renovating old farm-houses than she ever thought possible. Always has too many projects going on at the same time. Would need a 36-hour day in order to have a chance of getting at least a /few/ things done.

I thought you might like this: [link]

"Sing, my tongue, the Savior's glory,
of His flesh the mystery sing;
of the Blood, all price exceeding,
shed by our immortal King,
destined, for the world's redemption,
from a noble womb to spring."

Yeah, this has been a popular topic of discussion around here. Some people have already suggested that he should go and get an edition in this style published (which apparently he's trying, but hasn't received permission yet, though from the interview I get the idea that he's trying from the wrong angle anyway, but what do I know ;))...

You will find hope alive among the hopeless
That is your purpose to this life

That'd be amazing to get a book like that. :D I think Tolkien would have really loved it if he was able to see his beloved Silmarillion in the style of the Lindisfarne Gospel. :D

Not sure, actually - I bet he'd have a whole lot to argue about whether the style is fitting to the internal history of the book. (If we go with the HoME hints that the Silmarillion as we know it was compiled by Elendil, for example, the Anglo-Celtic style would be completely off, and something Mediterranean or downright Egyptian would be far more appropriate... ;))

Egyptian, really? You think so? Hmmm, I don't know if Egyptian would quite suit "The Silmarillion." Tolkien's historical background that furnished much of it's inspiration is too Germanic to be Middle Eastern or even Near Eastern, I would think. Not that I think Numenor, and therefore Elendil, was at all culturally like Germanic tribes or anything. I always thought of them as classical, you know, Roman, Byzantine and greek. (Hehe, with maybe more than a little doasge of some medieval clothing inspiration ;) ) But that's just me. :XD:
